She has a big, booming voice, a dirty laugh and the ability to crack the kind of jokes that would make nuns say a hundred Hail Marys. She's described by Paul as "a top bloke" but there's also a softer, quieter side to Jo.

"Yeah, one minute I’m loud, full-on and a bit mad and the next I'll be as quiet as a mouse and won't say a thing," grins Jo. "Sometimes people don't know what to make of me because of that."

What they do know all about is Jo's lung power. She's been flexing her lung muscles since her first break at the age of 12, thanks to a karaoke machine. "Someone pushed me up to sing The Locomotion. Afterwards my dad (who, by the way, does a great Frank Sinatra) said, 'Hey, you're quite good.' And that was it. I loved the applause and loved the attention, so I kept going up and singing!" By the time someone finally pulled the plug out of the karaoke machine, Jo was already planning her next performance.

From karaoke sessions in her hometown of Romford, it didn't take long before Jo was performing in clubs up and down the country, doing the odd singing spot on TV and even having a Top 40 hit with a band in Germany! Perhaps more surprising is the fact that Jo is also a talented Country & Western singer. But don't go thinking Dolly Parton-style big ballads. Jo's thing is New Country. "Y'know, Shania Twain, LeAnn Rimes."

Squeezing her singing career into her school life (which included a few terms at the Italia Conti Stage School) Jo also had a number of part-time jobs, working on the till in the local Spar, waitressing and helping out in a pet shop ("I love animals, but I had to leave when I found a dead dog in the shop. It was too upsetting.")

Always up for a party, Jo's also one of the first 7s to hit the sack at night ("I'm quite sensible like that"). No doubt she needs to rest those vocal chords…but just until morning when she'll be up singing with the lark!
