"Someone who can make me laugh"

There's only one person in the driving seat as far as Rachel's concerned and that's…Rachel. And we're not talking about the fact that she's the only one of the 7s to own a car and often has a second job driving the others around town.

Although she may be "dead feminine" (according to Bradley), she also has a steely side. It comes as quite a surprising contrast to her soft voice. "I'm strong-minded. I know what I want," she smiles sweetly, "and I'll make sure I get it."

Getting what she wanted started at the age of 15, when Rachel was plucked from over 5000 hopefuls to win a modeling competition organized by Just 17 magazine. "That led to some modeling work," she explains, "and then I went to the London School of Fashion to study the fashion business. After getting my diploma, I moved into Fashion PR."

It may be an unconventional (though not unheard of) path into music and TV but Rachel has other strings to her well-groomed bow. "I'd been going to drama school from the age of five and loved singing, dancing and acting as much as modeling. I used to watch Top of the Pops religiously, planning for the day that I'd be up there on stage. The modeling just came along first."

A true homebody ("I run up horrendous phone bills whenever I'm away,") she loves pottering around, decorating and putting the finishing touches to her bedroom--mostly pink of course. "But it's not a girl room, honest!" she laughs. And who would dare disagree as the velvety voiced Rachel admits to having a rather fiery temper. "I can be very passionate but I also have a bit of a hot temper--when pushed!"
