Sclub7 - their story so far

In the world of entertainment, the word 'phenomenon' is bandied around much too freely. it's a term tossed in the direction of the latest actor to go straight in at No 1 or the newest face to undress on the cover of a men's magazine.

But there's one group of young people who have every right to stake a claim. Sclub7 are a true phenomenon. But don't just take our word for it.

Fastest rise to international stardom...
"Sclub7 have been catapulted to the fastest rise to international stardom for a pop act since the Spice Girls, following the sale of their first TV series to nearly 100 countries," trumpeted the music industry's trade magazine and bible Music week.

And it's not just Sclub7's TV series, Miami 7, La7, & Hollywood 7 that have made Bradley McIntosh, Hannah Spearritt, Jo O'Meara, Jon Lee, Paul Cattermole, Rachel Stevens & Tina Barrett household names from Poland to Portugal. They've enjoyed a succession of Top 10 singles around the world, while their debut album Sclub, has netted a collection of gold & platinum sales in a number of countries including Australia, New Zealand & Canada.

Sclub7 On TV.....

Miami 7 first aired in the UK on BBC1 in April 1999. At that time, no one had heard of Sclub7. Yet, incredibly within a matter of weeks, the adventures of seven friends working in a Miami hotel, had rocketed to the top of the ratings chart. Miami 7 soon became the most watched programme on kids' TV.

Then their two feature-length specials, Boyfriends & Birthdays shown on BBC1 & Back To The 50s on ITV, were the No1 & No2 most watched kids' peak time shows in 1999

They year 2000 was another phenomenal time for the 7s on TV. April saw the launch of their second series called LA7. The 13 episodes, which follow the fortunes & misfortunes of the 7 friends on the West Coast, enjoyed huge success on BBC1. So successful in fact, that a further Sclub7 series was then commissioned and broadcast in September. Called Sclub7 Go Wild, the 7-part series featured the 7s traveling around the world tracking down 7 endangered species with the help for the World Wildlife Fund For Nature. In September, a two-part special called Artistic Differences, was shown on ITV & Christmas Special was broadcast on Christmas Eve 2000.

2001 saw the 7s make a welcome return to our screens with their third series being aired on both sides of the Atlantic. Hollywood 7 found the gang up to more tricks in LA and scored a massive hit with fans new & old/

Sclub7 On Cd...

In June 1999 the band released their debut single Bring It All Back, which went straight in at No1. In October, they released their debut album, Sclub7, which went double-platinum & spawned two No 2 singles with Sclub Party & Two In A Million/You're My Number One.

In May 2000, the band returned with the unbelievably uplifting Reach - a glorious pop song that everyone seemed to be singing along to that summer. It was no wonder then, that a month later, the band's second album, 7, shot straight to No 1. A step on from the classic pop of their debut, Seven showed the band to have come of age. The album is packed with gloriously infectious tunes including the gorgeous Natural, released as the band's fifth single in September & the November 2000 No 1 smash Never Had A Dream Come True.

2001 saw the band's continued rise to super-stardom with the release of two more massive chart-topping hits, Don't Stop Movin' in April & Have You Ever in November. These were to be followed by their third mega-selling album, Sunshine, in December.

And 2002 looks like being no less successful for the 7s, with February seeing their latest single, You, smashing straight into the charts at No 2.

Throughout their career Sclub7 have constantly been involved with helping charities (launching 2000's Poppy Appeal & actively supporting WWF & Woolworth's Kids First Charity. And for their sixth single, the gorgeous Never Had A Dream Come True, the band announced they would be donating the profits to the BBC Children In Need campaign. It was particularly special to the band when Never Had A Dream Come True went to No 1 in December. The following year saw them repeating the feat with another beautiful balled, Have You Ever, hitting the top spot in November 2001 & raising yet more money for the children's charity.

It's no wonder then, with all these achievements under their belts, that Sclub7 were voted Best British Newcomer at the Brit Awards 2000. What's more impressive is the fact that this was a people's award, voted for by Radio 1 listeners, rather than an industry slap on the back for impressive figures. Since then they've also added the TV Hits Award 2000 for Best Album for 7, two Disney Channel Kids Awards - Best Group of the Year & Best Disney Channel Show for Miami 7, and the 2001 Record Of The Year Award and a 2002 Best British Single BRIT for Don't Stop Movin'.

So are Sclub7 a pop act who make TV shows? Or are they TV Actors who make hit records? The real question is why pigeonhole them? Sclb7 are an international multi-media... Well, let's face it, what better word for it than phenomenon.
